About Plantive

Plantive is a plant identification and plant care app for iPhone, made by DEDUCTIFY, LLC. This site is its free companion library of care guides.

What we are trying to do

Most houseplants die for two reasons: they were watered on a schedule instead of when they needed it, and they were put somewhere with far less light than they required. Both are completely fixable, and both are hard to fix if you do not know what the plant actually is.

That is the gap Plantive is built for. Identification on its own is a novelty. Identification that leads straight to this species wants its top two inches dry, and it needs to be within six feet of that window is genuinely useful.

How these guides are made

Every care guide on this site is written and reviewed by our team, cross-checked against established horticultural references and botanical sources. We aim for specifics rather than the vague advice that fills most plant content:

Where advice is genuinely contested, we say so. Where a popular claim does not hold up — that snake plants meaningfully purify the air in a real room, or that misting fixes humidity — we say that too.

Toxicity and safety

We include toxicity information on every plant guide because it matters in homes with pets and children. It is general guidance, not veterinary advice.

If an animal or child has eaten part of a plant, contact a vet or poison control line immediately. Do not spend time identifying the plant first — bring it with you or send a photo, and let them identify it while treatment begins.

The app

Plantive: Identify & Care is free to download and requires iOS 17.0 or later. You can scan a plant without creating an account. Optional Pro subscriptions and a lifetime unlock are available as in-app purchases.

Subscriptions and refunds are handled by Apple. To cancel, open Settings on your iPhone, tap your name, then Subscriptions. For refunds, visit reportaproblem.apple.com.

Contact

Corrections, questions and feedback are all welcome at contact@deductify.org. If you spot something wrong in a care guide, please tell us — we would rather fix it than have it sit there.
